Our pre-kindergarten class is absolutely the most active and exciting classroom. It is at this age that the children develop into little geniuses. While in the pre-kindergarten classroom your child will be introduced to the fundamentals of preschool education.
Our focus is on letter recognition and sounds, letter blends, vowel sounds, writing readiness, eye-hand coordination, visual perception, listening and thinking skills, and developing good character.
The following is a list of school supplies your child will need for the pre-kindergarten school year which runs September through May:
- Pencil box
- 2 glue sticks
- Set of markers
- 24 count box of crayons
- Two pocket folder (child’s choice)
Each week we have “All About Me,” featuring the “Student of the Week”. The teacher will give you a form to fill out, listing specific information about your child. You are encouraged to include a few pictures. The information and pictures will be on display showing the ways your child is unique and special.
“Show and Tell” is every Wednesday and Friday. Wednesday is “Letter of the Week” show and tell. The children are encouraged to bring something that starts with the letter of the week. Friday is children’s choice show and tell. Due to limited space, small toys are suggested.
Every day the children play and explore outdoors (weather permitting) and engage in imaginative play in our atrium area. A variety of centers promote fine and gross motor development, dramatic play, science, sensory and self-help skills.
