While in the 2-year-old room your child will be introduced to the basic fundamentals of learning. Our focus is to teach the children the concepts of colors, numbers, shapes, months of the year, days of the week, calendar dates, Pledge of Allegiance, and beginning Bible studies. Each day, we implement the five areas of child development: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and adaptive. Every week the lesson plans are posted in the classroom, listing all of the planned daily activities.
We strive to teach the children structure and consistency by implementing a daily schedule. Each activity is done at specific time throughout the day to help the children get into a daily routine. We do understand that this is the age when the children have discovered and are avidly exploring their independence. Therefore, we may deviate from the daily schedule from time to time in the event that the children are not interested in doing the planned activity.
Each day the children play and explore outdoors (weather permitting) and engage in imaginative play in our atrium area. A variety of centers promote fine and gross motor development, dramatic play, science, sensory and self-help skills.
Two-year-olds are very curious and they enjoy using their senses and bodies to explore the world around them.
